7/13/2021 During the City Council Meeting held on July 13th, Mayor Berube declared a critical water emergency and provided specific guidelines for culinary water usage (Declaration 2021-01).

The City Council adopted Ordinance 2021-23, "water supply shortage and drought condition measures for the protection of available water supply and quality thereof for domestic indoor use, public health and fire protection, while minimizing water shortages and other water supply emergencies."

The City Council, in recognition of a successful Cherry Days celebration, (Proclamation 2021-01) "recognized the efforts of local businesses, prominent citizens, volunteers, employees in the events, parks, recreation, public works, law enforcement, and fire departments, and others who joined together to create a wide variety of events and activities for North Ogden residents and others to enjoy."

7/12/2021  **Xeriscape Information**
Current North Ogden Ordinances do not dis-allow xeriscape and other water-wise landscaping. We encourage people to look at resources such as the Weber Basin Water Conservancy District's Learning Garden off SR 193 in Layton for more information. The City does however have City Code 5-7 Protective Ground Cover which requires ground covering landscaping defined as:

"A landscaping technique which utilizes a variation of plants, grass, shrubs, trees, mulch, underlayment, rocks, and other similar natural and manmade components as determined by the building official, which are used to control weeds, erosion, dust, runoff, and other nuisances from harming neighboring property owners. Protective ground cover shall be a conscious effort through planning, designing, and cultivation of the property. Allowing the natural growth of any plant variety which takes root does not qualify as protective ground cover. Natural landscaping is allowed when care is taken to remove nonnative species of plants. It shall be unlawful for the owner or occupant of any real property to allow to grow on such property any noxious weeds or other noxious vegetable growth as determined by the Utah noxious weed act or Weber County health department to be especially injurious to public health, crops, livestock, land, or other property.”

7/8/2021 The amount of vandalism we are seeing is at an all time high. PLEASE, if you see someone vandalizing North Ogden City property call Dispatch at 801-629-8221. If you find vandalism that has already occurred, call the Parks Department at 801-940-1944 or 801-737-0587.

7/2/2021 **CHERRY DAYS FIREWORKS**
We have received numerous calls today regarding the location of the Cherry Days Fireworks that are scheduled for Saturday night. The location was not publicized because there is no pedestrian or motor vehicle access, and there isn't a place for the public to sit and watch. There is a safety buffer in place in order to keep everyone safe. Please allow the trained professionals along with the fire department to do their jobs properly and watch these fireworks from the comfort of your home. The fireworks will be shot off from the Southeast quadrant of the city so look to the sky and enjoy the fabulous show! We appreciate your patience and understanding.

7/1/2021 Effective July 1, 2021 there will be a 1.5% fee added to credit card transactions for Court, Green Waste passes, and other general governmental services.

6/30/2021 The City offices will be closed on Monday, July 5th in observance of Independence Day. We will reopen on July 6th.

6/23/21 Due to the statewide drought this year, our Council voted to ban all fireworks. The one exception will be the Cherry Days fireworks which will be closely monitored by the fire department. The ban will be lifted December 1st.

6/18/21 The Public Works Building will continue to stay closed to the public. If residents need to do an in-person visit or pay in person, please come to City Hall. For Green Waste Passes you can call Public Works and pay over the phone and pick up at the Green Waste Facility.
